Announcements   1st, 2nd, 3rd  and 4th January 2009

1.    Our annual retreat this time will start on Monday 5th January to Friday 9th January 2009 in English. The Preacher will be Fr. Mathew Elavumkal, Director of Divine Retreat Ashram from Delhi.

     Fr. Mathew will also be preaching the retreat in Malayalam from Monday 12th to Friday 17th January 2009.  All are requested to make necessary arrangements and attend the retreat. Please see notice board for timings.

2.    On Friday, the 9th January 2009, immediately after the 5:30pm Mass, there will be a Christmas Get Together for all the Parishioners, on the outdoor stage in the Church Premises. There will be no Malayalam Mass at 7:00pm on that day.

3.    The Parish Liturgy meeting will be held on Friday 16th January at 8:00pm   in the POSA Room attendance is compulsory.

4.    Our priests will be away for the Annual Priest Meeting, which will be held in Abu Dhabi from Monday, the 19th to Thursday, 15th January 2008.
Please keep them in your prayers. No masses will be celebrated on these days but the Holy Communion will be given by Eucharistic Ministers .

5.    Our monthly “Deepening the Catholic Faith” program will be held on Saturday, the 10th January 2009 after the 6:30 evening mass in the Bishop Trinanzi Auditorium. All parishioners are requested to participate in the praise and worship and the session to deepen the Catholic Faith

6.    Filipino Community will be celebrating the Feast of Santo. Nino on Sunday, the 18th January 2009 with a mass at 3:00 pm, in the MPH. Please bring your Sto. Nino statues for blessing during the service. We invite all the Filipino members of our Parish to attend this annual event and to make it an event of love, prayer and reunion. The nine nights Novena will be conducted from Friday, the 9th January at 8:00 pm in the Audio Video Room. All the devotees of the Infant Jesus are welcome.

We have invited all the recognized Christian churches of Bahrain for this Ecumenical Prayer Service. This year’s theme is “Prayer without ceasing.” This is an important Parish event. Hence all parishioners of all languages are urged to participate in it as a sign of unity and as One Parish Family.

10.     The much awaited Family Day 2009 will be held at the Church grounds on Friday 6th February with the theme ‘Family – The Santuary of Light, Life and Love’.  Parishioners, we need your support and cooperation to make this day a success. Please contact the core-group members, whose names are put up on the parish notice board for assistance.

 

11.     We thank Mr. Rex Pereira and family for sponsoring the 52 inch LCD TV, which is installed at the side wing of the MPH.

Announcements –  9th, 10th, and 11th January 2009 

1. Fr. Mathew Elavumkal will be preaching the retreat in Malayalam from Monday 12th to Friday 16th January 2009.  Mission will start soon after the evening mass. All are requested to make necessary arrangements to attend this retreat.

Announcements   23rd, 24th, and 25th January 2009

1.     The Sacred Heart School registration for L.K.G. for the year 2009 – 2010. Catholic children born in 2005 are eligible for admission to L.K.G. this year. Parents must present themselves with their child at the kindergarten, Manama, on 29th January, 2009. Please see notice board for further details.

2.     Wedding Anniversary Mass, for January celebrants will be held on Tuesday 27th January at 7:00 pm in the Mother Church. Celebrants may register their name at the Parish Office.

3.     On Saturday, 31st January, we will be celebrating the Feast of St. Don Bosco at 6:30 pm Mass in the MPH. The Feast Solemn Mass is organized by the Past Pupils of Don Bosco. All benefactors and past pupils of Don Bosco are invited to attend the Feast Mass and join the fellowship thereafter.

4.     As all are aware, the Family Day 2009 with the theme ‘Family – The Sanctuary of Light, Life and Love’, is on Friday 6th February 2009 in the church grounds from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm with lots of game stalls, food stalls and a variety of entertainment. Parishioners, we need your support to make this day a success. You are requested to help by taking solicitation letters, donating gifts, food items, etc. Kindly contact the Core Group members whose names are displayed on the notice board, for any assistance.

In the morning, after the soft opening at 10:00 am, there will be a Valentine Baby competition for babies upto 2 years of age. This will be immediately followed by a Talent Competition for three age groups from 3-6, 7-9, 10-12 years of age. In the afternoon, at 2:00 pm there will be cultural dances by various parish communities followed by the Traditional Costume Show and is open to all ages 16 years and above. Entry forms for all the competitions are available at the Parish Office and the last day for submission is 4th February 2009.

5.  This year we are celebrating the 2000th Birth Anniversary of St. Paul, the model for “Faith Formation” and the Christian Community : there will be a seminar on St. Paul’s life and missionary activities conducted by a resourced person, Mr. Manfred Diefenbach from Abu Dhabi. It will be held in the Bishop Trinanzi Auditorium on Friday 13th February from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm with a short lunch break. All parishioners are invited to attend the seminar.

6.  Our Bishop Paul Hinder will conduct his pastoral visit this year from 19th to 22nd March 2009 and administer the Sacrament of Confirmation on Friday 20th March to all the candidates who are prepared.

     There will be a meeting for the parents of all the Confirmation candidates on Friday 30th January 2009 at 10:00 am in the Mother Church, immediately after the 9:00 am Mass.

The Entrance and exit to the Auditorium will be from the Main door of the Al Zubarah Avenue. There will be no Catechism Classes., No Children Mass at 9.15am, no Youth Mass at 10.15am, no Arabic Mass at 11.30am and no Malayalam Mass at 7.00pm. Parishioners please bear with us for the inconvenience caused.  

3.    A Srilankan priest, Fr. Chaminda Wanigasena will conduct the Mission for our Srilankan Community from 2nd Feb.  We wish them a Spirit filled Ministry and renewal. 

4.    Due to the Family day on 6th February, First Friday Parish Holy Hour will be postponed to 13th February at 4:15pm.                                  

5.    This year we are celebrating the 2000th Birth Anniversary of St. Paul, the model for “Faith Formation” and the Christian Community : there will be a seminar on St. Paul’s life and missionary activities for 2 days:

3. The Thrift Shop will be open on the First Floor of Parish Community Centre, on Family Day and also on Saturday, 7th February from 9.00am to 12.00pm and Sunday 8th February from 4.00 to 7.00 pm. Parishioners please patronize.

Announcements – 13th, 14TH and 15th FEB 2009

1. Family day 2009 was a great success. We thank all our Communities,              our  dear parishners, supporters,Volunteers, all the Core groups of our Parish and all those who have had some part in making this day  meaningful & Joyful. May God bless you all. The ‘T-Shirts with Family day Logo’ are available in the Church compound.  Please patronize.

2. There is a tentative proposal for a pilgrimage to Holy Land from  26th March for      7days BD.480 + crossing the bridge tax and for 9days including Egypt BD.550 +crossing the bridge tax. Those who wish to join should register immediately at the Parish Office on a ‘First come First serve basis’ .

3.  Parish Coordinators meeting will be held on Monday 16th February, in the Audio Video Room at 7:00 pm. Please attend.

4. The Parish Liturgy meeting is postponed to Friday 20thFebruary at 6.45pm mass in A.V. Room.

5. Ash Wednesday will be on the 25th February 2009. The schedule of Service,     as follows:

   - 6:25 A.M. Blessing of Ashes followed by Mass and Distribution of Ashes.

   -5:00 P.M. and 6.30 P.M. Distribution of Ashes followed by Mass and                  Novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

  There will be a special Mass at 8.00 P.M. and Distribution of Ashes.

  - All Services will be in the Multi Purpose Hall.

  - Way of the Cross Every Wednesday at 6:15P.M. And Every Friday at 4:45 P.M. in the MPH

- Lenten Alms envelopes, towards Campaign Against Hunger And Thirst (for your Lenten Sacrifices) will be distributed on Wednesday, 25th February. Please take one envelope per family, to be returned on Palm Sunday.

6 Fast and Abstinence are prescribed for Ash Wednesday and Good Friday,          limited to the age between 21 to 60. 

7. Abstinence is prescribed as a general rule for every Friday in Lent,       applicable to the age of 14 onwards. But for particular circumstances in the Vicariate of Arabia, Abstinence is to be observed on Wednesday in Lent. Out of devotion Abstinence may be observed during the year every Wednesday.

 8. Eucharistic Fast: The Faithful must abstain from solid food and liquids for    one hour before receiving Holy Communion. This regulation is applied to Masses celebrated in the morning, afternoon, evening or at midnight. Water does not break the fast. Those who are sick even though not confined to bed may take any liquid or food as medicines at any time before Holy Communion without asking permission.

 9. Easter Duty may be fulfilled any time between the First Sunday in Lent and Trinity Sunday.

1. The proposed pilgrimage to Holy Land will be from 26th March for 9days including Egypt BD.550/- plus crossing the bridge tax and tips. Those who wish to join should register immediately at the Parish Office along with the total amount and 2 sets of Passport copies latest by 25th Febuary.

 

2.  Choir practice for the Holy Week and Easter Sunday Services will begin on 5TH March and thereafter every Thursday from 7:00 to 8:30 pm and on every Friday from 6:45 to 8:00 pm in the Music Room. All parishioners who wish to join the Parish Choir are most welcome.

 

3.  Ash Wednesday will be on the 25th February 2009. The schedule of Service, as  follows:

We are introducing and launching ‘Jesus youth, an International youth movement in our Parish on Monday 9th of March. The program commences from 2 pm. to 8.30 pm in the Bishop Tirinanzi Auditorium. All parents are requested to take keen interest to send their youth & youtheens to be active members of this Jesus Youth International Organization, which is present in many of the Parishes of our Vicariate of Arabia and Vicariate of Kuwait.

 

Jesus youth promotes the missionary movement with an active Catholic Life style answering to the present day challenges of a layperson: well convinced that youth is a time of great generosity and creativity, the young people at all levels are encouraged to do something good for the Lord and His people.

1. 28 Parishioners along with Fr. Thomas and Fr. Andrew have left for holy land pilgrimage. Please keep them in your prayer. 

2. The copies of the Pastoral letter from our Bishop Paul Hinder Ofm. Cap for the Lenten season 2009 are now available at the entrance of MPH and Mother Church. Each family may take a   copy for personal reading and reflection.

3. Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis from India will be conducting a  proximate preparation for the Holy week and Easter from Monday 6th April which will be combined with evening Mass followed by confessions from 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm.

4.  A Life in the Spirit Seminar will be held from 16th April to 18th June,  with  weekly  service  every  Thursday,  starting at 7 p.m. in the Multipurpose Hall, conducted by the English Chrismatic community. Parishioners are encouraged to take part. Kindly fill in the Registration form which is distributed in the  Church compound after every Mass. After the Mass there will be a presentation at the outdoor stage on the life and mission of St. Paul by various parish communities, kindly patronize. The collection made on these days is called “Peter Pence”. It will be sent to the   Holy Father through our Bishop, to help him meet his many    commitments to works of Charity. 1. We thank Rev. Fr. Daniel Rex for being in our midst for a month in the absence of Fr. Andrew and  conducting  the  mission  in Tamil. May God Bless him in his             Ministry and assuring him of our prayers.

  2. We  are   celebrating  the Feast of Saints  Peter and Paul on   Friday 26th, June, Saturday  27th June and Sunday 28th June. On Sunday, 28th the 7.00 pm.  Mass                   will be celebrated as the feast Mass and closing of the year dedicated to St. Paul’s Birth  Anniversary.  After the Mass there will be a presentation at  the outdoor             stage on the life and mission  of St. Paul   by various    parish communities, kindly    patronize.  The  collection   made on  these  days  is  called “Peter Pence”. It  will  be        sent  to  the  Holy  Father  through  our  Bishop,  to  help  him meet his many  commitments to works of Charity. Please keep this in mind and be generous.      

 3. The  Next  Marriage  Preparation   Course will be held on 22nd, 23rd,  24th  & 25th June from 6.30pm to 9.00 pm in the Bishop Tirinanzi Auditorium. All those who wish

     to attend this course, will have to register their names just before the commencement of the course at 6.30pm and have to be present on all four days on time, failing which

     they will have to repeat the course at another time. Please bring your Bible with you.

4. 24th June is the Feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. The 7:00 pm, mass will be celebrated in Her honour. Those who wish to donate flowers for this Special                               Occasion are requested to bring them in advance.

 5. The feast of Immaculate Heart of Mary is on 20th June but the feast mass will be celebrated on 24th June at the 7.00 pm Mass in the MPH.

 6. Please note that, the monthly 3rd Friday Tagalog Mass has been postponed to 4th Friday 26th June 2009 at 4.00 pm.  

7. Wedding Anniversary Mass for June celebrants will be on Tuesday, 30th June at 7:00pm in the Mother Church. Celebrants please register your names at the                              Parish Office.

 On June 19, 20 and 21st we are celebrating the Feast of Sacred Heart of Jesus. The concelebrated Feast mass will be celebrated  today evening     at 5.30 pm. Adoration will be held from 10.00 am till 4.00 pm in the Mother Church by various parish groups.  Soon after the   9.00 am Mass, the Blessed Sacrament will be transferred from MPH. to   Mother Church in Procession. At 4.00 pm. the Blessed Sacrament will be transferred    back to the MPH. and the Parish Holy Hour will be conducted from 4.15pm in the     MPH. The Blessed Sacrament Chapel will remain closed from 10.00am till 5.15 pm.

 1. Every Saturday beginning from 25th July, there will be a special hour of confession from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm in the Mother Church for those who are unable to go for confession during the mass in the week.

2.  This year is the 70th anniversary of the inception of the Sacred Heart Church in the Kingdom of Bahrain. In November 2009, it is proposed to start a year long programme of thanksgiving and Praise to the Lord for this benevolent care, guidance and protection during all these years. Parishioners, we welcome your valuable ideas and suggestions to make this programme meaningful and memorable.We thank those few parishioners, for their suggestions put forth in the meeting held on 6th July 2009. A similar meeting will be held in the Bishop         Tirinanzi Auditorium, on Monday the 20th July 2009 at 7pm. Please attend and put forward your suggestions. We welcome written suggestions and proposals from parishioners,which can be put into the Suggestion Boxes placed at the entrance of the MPH and Mother Church on before Sunday the 19thof July 2009.

4.  Rev. Fr. George Kunnel will be preaching a retreat in Malayalam from Monday 20th July to Wednesday 22nd July 2009. Mission will start after the evening mass, at 7.00 pm. All Malayalam Community people are requested to attend this retreat.

       Dear Friends, Parishioners I will be going back to my Home province in India        as desired by my Superiors. Our Bishop Paul Hinder has kindly relieved me         and appointed the new parish priest Rev. Fr.Diago Joao Mendonca Capuchin from    India, who will be installed by our Bishop Paul Hinder on 25th September at 5.30 PM concelebrated Mass. I take this occasion to thank all of you for your co-operation and I am sure         that you will also extend the same to my Successor Fr. Diago Joao Mendonca, Ofm.Cap. 

1. ‘EPHPHATHA’ A three days Youth Renewal Retreat will be organized by Sacred          Heart      Church for all the Youth & Youthteens  of the Parish, during the Eid holidays. 19th–21st September.  Br. Fritz Mascarenhas & Br.C.C.Joseph from India will be the main speakers of the team. During these three days, no other programes will be held. Details are displayed on the Parish Notice Board.

2.The Tamil Community will celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Vailankanni on Thursday 10th     September. The Novena mass already started from Tuesday, First September to Wednesday, 9th September every day in the Bishop Tirinanzi Auditorium at 6.30 pm. For further details please refer to the Parish Notice Board.

 

3.Our Parish will celebrate, the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary on 8th September. Feast mass will be celebrated at 6 pm

 

4. The Konkani Community will be celebrating the Nativity of our Blessed Mother, ‘Konkan Harvest Festival’ on Friday, 11th September, 2009 at 10.30 am. With blessing of Paddy (New Corn) and floral offerings to our Lady by the children at the outdoor stage followed by Feast Mass in Konkani in the Multipurpose Hall. The 9 days Novena with Mass in preparation for the feast has already begun. For the timings please refer to the Parish Notice Board.

 

5. The  Next  Marriage  Preparation   Course will be held on 14th, 15th,  16th & 17th  September

 from 6.30pm to 9.00 pm in the Bishop Tirinanzi Auditorium. All those who wish to attend this

 course, will have to register their names just before the commencement of the course at 6.30pm

 and have to be present on all four days on time, failing which they will have to repeat the course at

 another time. Please bring your Bible with you.  

 

6. The Marriage Enrichment Retreat will be held on the 22nd September. It will be

&nbbsp;     We welcome Rev. Fr. Youssef, after his vacation, to continue his Pastoral Ministry with             renewed spirit.

We can gain a plenary indulgence applicable to the dead, under the usual condition, that is visit to the church with devotion and recite the Our Father, the Creed and prayer for the intentions of the Holy Father. A special collection will be made during these masses for the Maintenance of the Cemeteries. The new Salmabad cemetery will be blessed at 3.00PM and the old Manama Cemetery at 4.00PM. From 1st to 8th November. Anyone who visits the cemetery and prays for the souls in purgatory could gain a plenary indulgence.

5.      There shall  be a 3 day retreat on the ‘Living Word of God’ with healing service conducted by a renowned lay preacher Bro. Johnson Sequeira from India on 3rd, 4th and 5th Nov. in the Bishop Tirinanzi Auditorium from 7.00 PM to 9 PM. on Tuesday and Thursday and Wednesday at 7.45PM. All Parishioners are encouraged to attend this retreat.

ACYC – (CATHOLIC YOUTH CONFERNCE IN ARABIA) will be held in  St. Mary’s Cathedral Church, Dubai, during the Eid Holidays - on November 26, 27 & 28

The expected participants are the Youth who are involved in various language prayer groups of both in the Vicariates of Arabia and Kuwait.  The purpose: TO DEEPEN THE FAITH AND HELP OTHERS TO DO THE SAME.  

Parents are requested to extend their whole hearted support and encouragement for this worthy cause and timely assistance to the youth.  For Registration or any assistance kindly contact JESUS YOUTH members or parish office. ANNOUNCEMENTS – 30TH, 31ST OCT.  & 1ST NOV. 2009

                 

1. The First Friday Parish Holy Hour will be held on 6th November, at 4.15 PM in the Multi-purpose  hall.

2.  All Soul’s Day will be observed on Monday 2nd November. The mass Schedule is as follows:

&nbbsp;         At 6.25 am & 9.00 am

>         At 6.00pm, 7.00pm and 8.00pm

>       There will be a Tamil Mass at 6pm and Malayalam Mass at 7. 30pm in the Bishop Tirinanzi Auditorium.

 We can gain a plenary indulgence applicable to the dead, under the usual condition, that is visit to the church with devotion and recite the Our Father, the Creed and prayer for the intentions of the Holy Father. A special collection will be made during these masses for the Maintenance of the Cemeteries. The new Salmabad cemetery will be blessed at 3.00PM and the old Manama Cemetery at 4.00PM. From 1st to 8th November. Anyone who visits the cemetery and prays for the souls in purgatory could gain a plenary indulgence.

3  There shall  be a 3 day retreat on the ‘Living Word of the Living God’ with healing      service conducted by a renowned lay preacher Bro. Johnson Sequeira from India on 3rd, 4th and 5th Nov. in the Bishop Tirinanzi Auditorium from 7.00 PM to 9 PM. on Tuesday and Thursday and at 7.45PM. on Wednesday. All Parishioners are encouraged to attend this retreat.

The Novena in honour of Christ the King has begun from      11th November. It will be prayed, fifteen minutes before the evening mass till the 19th       November. On Friday 20th November there will be Holy Hours, conducted by various Parish Groups, from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm in the Mother Church. Soon after the 9.00 am         Mass the Blessed Sacrament will be taken from Multipurpose hall to the Mother Church            in Procession. At 4.00 pm the Blessed Sacrament will be transferred back to the        Multipurpose hall. The Schedule of     Adoration is displayed on the Notice Boards. The             Parish Holy Hour, will be at 4.15 pm in the Multipurpose Hall. All parishioners are urged     to participate.

ANNOUNCEMENTS – 27th, 28th.  & 29th NOV. 2009

  

1.  The First Friday Parish Holy Hour will be held on 4th December, at 4.15 PM in the Multi-purpose hall.

 

2. We are in the 1st week of Advent.The various Communities of our Parish will conduct Advent Penitential Rites in the MULTI-PURPOSE HALL on different days. Kindly refer to the notice boards for further details. Parishioners are urged to participate in     these services and make a good confession in preparation for Christmas and the New Year.

 

3.       During Advent, the Priests will be available before and during mass in the confessionals. Please avail of this opportunity and do not wait till the last moment.

 

4.       Our Church is celebrating 70 years of its existence in this Country. To thank the Lord for the great privilege, there will be a thanks giving programme on 17th December. At 4.00 pm Praise and Worship by different Communities in different languages followed by a thanksgiving Mass at 5.30 pm in the Multi-purpose Hall. Thereafter a cultural programme in the Bishop Tirinanzi Auditorium. All Parishioners are invited to take  part in this celebration.

13.   ACYC – (CATHOLIC YOUTH CONFERNCE IN ARABIA) which was held in St. Mary’s Church, Dubai, during the Eid Holidays was very fruitful and a resounding success. 1000 youth from six different countries in the Middle East region actively took part in this conference.

 

The General Convener Fr. Varghese Chempoly, with the consent of His Excellency Bishop Paul Hinder and His Excellency Bishop Camillo Ballin has extended his sincere thanks for our special intercessory prayers for the success of this conference.

 

We thank God for this grace-filled event in our Vicariate and also all parents for extending their whole hearted support and encouragement for this worthy cause and timely assistance to the youth.
