CFC-BAHRAIN through the years

Couples For Christ (CFC) started in June 1981 in Manila, Philippines by just 16 couples who gathered in a private home, where they committed themselves to a living relationship with Jesus Christ. Twenty four years later, CFC is now established around the world in 150 countries (as of 2006 statistics) with more than a million members.

 

1993-1994

·        In November 1993, the 1st Christian Life Program (CLP) was conducted by Bro. Roquel and Sr. Nina Ponte, formally establishing Couples for Christ in Bahrain with 33 couples, 3 servants and 1 handmaid. Bahrain became the 13th foreign country of Couples for Christ.

1994-1995

·        CFC Handmaids of the Lord was established with 8 Handmaids  as one Household.

1995-1996

·        Youth for Christ was started when Brian Galang and Maan Ponte from Manila conducted the 1st Youth Camp the first group having 60 youth.

·        By September, CFC-Bahrain embarked on missionary work, five   members conducted a CLP among the Sudanese community in   Alexandria, Egypt with the guidance and support of Fr. Felicio  Diniz, Bro. Roquel and Sr. Nino.

·        The month of November, another mission team comprising of   one family and six other members with Fr. Felicio, Bro. Roquel   and Sr. Nina went to Oman to conduct a CLP.

·        CFC singles for Christ was formed with 20 Singles joining CFC’s 3rd CLP, which culminated with the 2nd Anniversary celebration.

1996-1997

·        In May , CFC Kids for Christ was established with a membership of 32 girls and 31 boys from the age of 4 to 12 years.

·        During April, the YFC conducted the 1st CFC Oman Youth   Camp.

1997-1998

·        CFC added two leaders to the Fraternal Team to cope up the growing family of the Bahrain Chapter.

1998-1999

·        As one couple from the Fraternal Team migrated to Canada during the year, another couple was commissioned to fill their place. The Fraternal team consists now of six couples.

1999-2000

·        The year marked the establishment of the CFC-Qatar, the 73rd country of CFC which was spearh4eaded by CFC-Bahrain community.

·        We are privileged to host the 2nd CFC Middle East Conference which was entitled “The Grand Dilmun Discovery”

2000-2001

·        CFC-Bahrain is now classified as a Cluster which is headed by a Cluster head, Bro. Richie D’Mello. Two CFC Chapter heads and head of Family Ministries were also organized.

·        Conducted the 1st Christian Life Program in Damascus, Syria last March with the support of Bro Rouquel and Sr. Nina Ponte.

2001-2002

·        CFC-Bahrain again spearheaded the holding of the 1st CLP in Colombo, Sri Landa – the 98th country of CFC.

·        To sustain the growth of CFC, Syria, we again organized the 2nd   CLP in Damascus, Syria

·        To support CFC Manila in establishing CFC Ethiopia, thanks for   the support prayer and love offering of the CFC Bahrain   community.

2002-2003

·        The 1st Christian Life Program was conducted in Kathmandu Nepal.

·        Conducted the Covenant Orientation and Marriage Enrichment Retreat in Colombo Sri Lanka and Evangelization Congress.

·        Hosted the 5th Middle East Conference and celebrating the 10th Anniversary of CFCBahrain in November.

2003-2004

·        In the year 2003 and 2004, CFC Bahrain was appointed as the country coordinators for countries of Nepal, Sri Lanka, Kuwait and Syria.

·        Teachings and formations were accorded, including a Christian   Life Program in Sri Lanka, Covenant Orientation and Marriage   Enrichment Retreat in Nepal.

2004-2005

·        A change in the Spiritual Directorship took place, we are blessed and goad to welcome Rev. Fr. Thomas Quadros, OFM, Cap; as our new Spiritual Director for CFC-Bahrain.

·        In-line with the needs of time, a new top organization structure   was implemented at the start of the 12th year. The birth of the   CFC Bahrain National Council Directorate and the five pillars   comprising of Pastoral Support, Mission and Evangelization,  Family Ministries, Social Ministries and Gawad Kalinga (Work   with the Poor).

2005-2006

·        Additional two pillars in the national Council were added,:  Pro-Life and Special Ministries, making a  total of seven pillars.

·        Bro. Richie D'Mello, National Director and wife Sis. Viviette went   back to India.  Bro. Mar Japitana was appointed to assume the   National Director post as replacement.

·        A good number of leaders and members attended the separate   Middle East Conferences in Sharjah for CFC, YFC & KFC  and in Dubai for SFC.

·        Four CLPs were conducted in 2006 producing a total of 202   graduates – broken down as follows:  CFC 27, HOLD 25; SOLD   47 and Singles 103.

2007

·        With full trust and confidence for the blessing and guidance of the Lord, CFC Bahrain will work zealously and faithfully so that the Vision and Mission of CFC will be realized more and more in the lives of its individual members and the corporate life of the community.
