EL SHADDAI “GOD ALMIGHTY”

Nowadays a lot of people wonder about the El Shaddai DWXI Prayer Partners Foundation International. They ask, "What is the El Shaddai DWXI-PPFI all about?" "Why do hundreds of thousands and even millions of people flock to its fellowships, singing and dancing in praise of God for hours, despite the heavy rains or the scorching heat of the sun; whenever and wherever its Mass and Healing Rallies are held?" Even here in the Middle East especially Filipinos are known to be members of El Shaddai back home. As a result, El Shaddai membership is even brought here in the Middle East like in Kuwait, UAE & in Bahrain. Moreover, in the Middle East like in Kuwait for instance, its membership gained is not only limited to Filipinos but some other nationalities such as Indians, Lebanese, Thailanders, etc. Observers call it a phenomenon, but the members and followers of the Foundation call it "God's amazing grace at work" (John 5:17), for it is indeed a manifestation of God at work; performing miracles, particularly among the people who heed the Word of God, healing the sick, and transforming the lives of those who repent and turn away from their wicked ways! The Foundation has undoubtedly become a religious wonder and a "miracle of faith" in the Philippines, as well as in other parts of the world especially here in Bahrain.

El Shaddai Etymology

El Shaddai is a combination of two Hebrew words: "El" is a Semitic term which means God, and "Shaddai" is traditionally translated as Almighty; thus El Shaddai is translated as "God Almighty" (Genesis 17:1; 35:11, NIV). "El Shadda" is the original Hebrew spelling of "El Shaddai". The Latin text "i" for "y". "Shaddai" seems to be an abbreviated form of "Asher Day," meaning the "One Who is Enough." However there are possible word origins. In Arabic, for instance, we have "Shadid" meaning "strong" and "Sayyid" meaning "Lord". In Hebrew, on the other hand, "Shadah" and "Shad" meaning "maternal breast," redolent of the Akkadian "Shadu," the "God of Abundance." Besides this, "Shadu" can also mean "mountain," which is a symbol of power & stability.

What is common in all these terms or possible etymologies are the idea of "Lord" Who has "extraordinary power" that always gives "protection;” the "Lord" who’s infinite "goodness" shares "life" and "fruitfulness" in abundance. It is one of the seven Covenant Names through which our God the Father, Creator of heaven and earth, revealed Himself to the Israelites, His Chosen people. He is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He is the All-Powerful and Ever-Living God. He is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). He is "The God Who Is More Than Enough." He is the Source and Provider of all our needs, and with Him, all things are possible.

Therefore, this infinitely "Good" and "Almighty Lord," Who guarantees fruitful life and protection, challenges man to believe and trust in Him.

SYNOPSIS OF EL SHADDAI TAGALOG PRAYER GROUP, BAHRAIN

It was the month of April 1995 when two sisters, Norma & Virgie Calzado both regular attendees of El Shaddai in the Philippines, came-up with an idea of having a bible study in their house in Muharraq with their closest friends.  Later they approached Fr. Felicio Diniz who gave his blessing to have the prayer meeting in Sacred Heart. As it passes through the test of times, it firmly stands and continues its apostolic community service in the parish through evangelization and prayers.  On 29th December 2003, El Shaddai Tagalog Prayer Group finally got the official accreditation as International Chapter through the blessing of Bro. Mike Velarde, El Shaddai Servant Leader. The Core Group members are Sis. Cora Manglo (Main Coordinator), Bro. Oscar Japitana, Bro. Michael Magahis , Bro. Jude Allain Gigje, Sis. Errizza Culala, Sis. Roselyn Silvoza, and Bro. Christopher Humarang. The group is now recognized as El Shaddai DWXI PPFI Bahrain Chapter that continues to grow up to the present and raise up a community of faith-filled-believers of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Identity

The El Shaddai DWXI-PPFI is a Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement. It envisions bringing about a revival of the true Christian spirit in the Catholic faith. It aims to raise up a community of faith-filled-generous believers of the Lord Jesus Christ as recorded in Acts 2:42-47, which by Divine Guidance and Providence has now miraculously established these communities in many areas worldwide.

The mission of this prayer group is to proclaim to the community and world the greatness, faithfulness, power, goodness and love of God; to provide relief to people whose hearts and minds are burdened with problems; to heal the spiritual and physical afflictions of men in our time through the infallible Word of God.  And most of all, to preach the Good News of salvation offered by our Lord Jesus Christ.
Jesus said: "Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads and I will give you rest."  Matthew 11:28
