Konkani Mission By Rev. Fr. Michael Lobo

The history of humanity tells us that the development of our lives requires a spirit of renewal from time to time. The spirit of renewal helps enliven and strengthen our work, our sense of direction and our lives.

It was towards this objective, the Sacred Heart Church Konkani Community ceased on the opportunity of visiting priest Rev. Fr. Michael Lobo to conduct a mission in Konkani. Fr. Lobo brought with him a personal mandate to open the minds and hearts of our families through his mission on the theme ‘ Holy Family represents the Trinity’.

In the recent decades drastic changes have taken place in the configuration of the family unit and the cultural and social pressures on family structures. This is the reason, why many experts from various fields interested in the health and vitality of this institution, are engaged in studying the place and role of religion in the family. The Konkani Community were fortunate to have Fr. Lobo throw some light on these issues through his mission.

The mission held through the evenings of June 2^nd to 5^th, highlighted on the subjects of "Family Life Holy", "Prayer keeps a family Together", "Challenges faced by modern day family" and "Holy Family is a model"

Fr. Lobo, reaching the congregation in our mother tongue Konkani focused on the functioning and changing shape of family ministries and made every effort to explain how we can experience a relationship with God through the families. The daily mission ended with Exposition of Blessed Sacrament and Benediction, and with Holy Eucharist on the last day. The Konkani Community Choir were at their best during the mission, delivering hymns related to the subjects of the mission.

Coincidentally, the birthday of visiting Fr. Michael Lobo was on June 5. The Konkani Community presented Fr. Lobo with a floral bouquet with the congregation singing 'Happy Birthday' song in celebration.

We take this opportunity to thank Fr. Lobo, for the time he devoted to enrich our community through his mission and wish him fruitful ministry in the vineyard of the Lord.
