LECTORS’ MINISTRY

Lectors play an important role in the Liturgical services of the church, by proclaiming the Word of God to the assembled.  Being a Lector is a vocational calling, an enriching, fulfilling and spiritual experience.

At Sacred Heart Parish, we have 50 to 60 members in the Lectors’ Ministry.  Any parishioner above the age of 13 is welcomed into the Ministry.  Under the Spiritual Director, the Parish Priest, four Co-coordinators oversee this Ministry.

Senior Lectors with the Co-coordinators train the newcomers prior to their induction as a Lector, first for daily Masses and then for obligation Masses.

Service to this Ministry is voluntary, once volunteered the members are bound by the guidelines.  The Lector is required to be committed, responsible and practice the role devoutly and seriously.

The members meet once a month to discuss issues related to this Ministry, the points noted in the past month and most importantly, a prayerful reflection and contemplation of the Word of God.  This Ministry is vibrant and successful with the cooperation and dedication from every member.

To be a Lector, you may simply come for the monthly meeting, usually held on last Monday of the month at 7 P.M. in the Audio-Video room or contact any of the Lectors.
