ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR 17TH, 18TH & 19TH MAY 2024

  1. The Feast of Corpus Christi, the Most Holy Body & Blood of Christ will be celebrated on Friday 31st May, Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd June. On Friday, 31st May after the 7.00 am mass there will be a procession from Sacred Heart Church to Mother church, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed for Silent Adoration led by different communities at the Mother Church till 3.35 pm, concluding with a Parish Holy Hour in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 3.45 pm.  For the Adoration schedule, please refer to the Parish Notice Board. We request all parishioners to attend this special silent adoration service. The Adoration Chapel will remain closed on that day.
  2. The Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Patron of our Parish will be celebrated on Friday, 7th June. The concelebrated Feast Mass will be celebrated at 8.45 am in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. During the mass, there will be the Enthronement to the Sacred Heart, where parishioners with the Statues or framed pictures of the Sacred Heart of Jesus may bring them forward to be blessed.
  3. In preparation for the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, the 9- Day Novena will commence from 29th May, led by different communities each day, prayed daily soon after the evening Mass. There will be Flag hoisting on 28th May at 6. 30 pm in the church compound. On Tuesday, 4th June, the Novena in honour of St. Anthony will not be prayed and on Wednesday, 29th May and 5th June the Novena to Our Lady of Perpetual will only be prayed after the 7.00 pm mass.   4. Parishioners interested in donating flowers for the Feast may put their contributions Parishioners interested in donating flowers for the Feast may put their contributions in the box placed at the main entrance of the Sacred Heart Church. On this day, various Parish communities and ministries will come together to organize a mini Family Day.
  5. Due to the mini Family Day on Friday, 7th June, the Mass in English will be as usual at 7.00 am, 8.45 am and 5 pm. On that day, 10.30 am mass has been cancelled. The Mass in Malayalam will be at 10.30 am, the Mass in Filipino at 12.30 pm and the Mass in Tamil at 3.00 pm. All these services will be at the Sacred Heart Church.
  6. During the whole month of May, a traditional Marian devotion called “Flores De Mayo” will be held every Friday afternoon from 1.30 pm – 3.00 pm in the Sacred Heart Church. Everyone, especially children, dressed in white, may take part in the prayers, petitions and flower offerings as a special devotion to our Blessed Mother. Personal petitions may be dropped in the heart-shaped box placed at the Altar. The Flores De Mayo culminates on the Feast of Our Lady’s Visitation on 31st May.
  7. There will be a Marriage Preparation Course on Friday, 24th May in the St. Dominic Savio Hall from 7.45 am to 5.00 pm. Those taking part are requested to register their names at the Parish Office and submit their Baptism Certificate, recently issued for marriage purposes along with the date of Confirmation before 23rd May. The Certificate is valid for 6 months from the date of issue. The course fee is BD. 8/- per person, inclusive of lunch and the Certificate.
  8. The Catechists of the Neo-Catechumenal Way invite all adult parishioners above 12 years of age, either married or single, who are longing to deepen their faith and their relationship with God, to attend the Catechesis being held every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 7.30 pm at the Kids Hall which is on the 3rd floor above the Parish Canteen.
  9. There will be “AWAKENING 2024,” a Kids and Teens Retreat for parish children from Class 1 to Class 12, commencing from 29th June to 2nd July, which will be animated by the Anointing Fire Catholic Youth Ministry team from U.S.A. This retreat is compulsory for all children. Parents, please make arrangements for your vacation accordingly. Registration forms will be distributed through the Catechism classes. Registration fees will be BD 10/- per child. Breakfast and lunch will be provided on all 4 days.
  10. The African Community, under the guidance of Fr. Nicolson, will be celebrating the Feast of St. Charles Lwanga and Companions with a Grand Musical Concert with the theme “Look at him and live” – Numbers 21:8 on Thursday, 23rd May commencing from 7.20 pm onwards at Our Lady of Arabia Auditorium. All are invited to attend and support this free event.
  11. The Konkani Community invites all Konkani speakers to an entertaining evening with the legendary Melwyn Peris and team as well as stand-up comedy from our local artistes at Our Lady of Arabia Auditorium on Thursday, 30th May from 7.30 pm onwards.
  12. The Wedding Anniversary Mass for May celebrants will be held on Saturday, 25th May at 6.30 pm. During the mass, celebrants must occupy the pews reserved. Registration along with a fee of BD.1 is required and celebrants must be present at Mass to receive the Certificate. Last date to sign up is Friday, 24th May.
  13. The Holy Door pilgrimage will be conducted at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Arabia every Monday immediately after the 7.00 pm Mass in English. Pilgrims entering through the Holy Door are eligible to receive plenary indulgences for themselves or the souls of the faithful departed.
  14. The Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Arabia proudly presents the commemorative coin of St. Arethas and Our Lady of Arabia, with the blessings of His Excellency Bishop Aldo Berardi. This coin has the image of St Arethas on one side and the image of Our Lady of Arabia on the other. Priced at BD10 per piece, the income generated from selling the same will be used towards the construction of our Bishop’s House. Let us keep this coin in our homes as a souvenir and a blessing. May the intercession of Our Lady of Arabia, and St. Arethas and Companions help us all.
