ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR 21ST, 22ND & 23RD JUNE 2024

  1. We celebrate the Nativity of St. John the Baptist on Monday, 24th June.
  2. Monday, 24th June is the Birthday of our late Bishop Camillo Ballin. Let us pray that through the mercy of God, his soul may rest in peace.  
  3. On Wednesday, 26th June, we observe a Day of Prayer in memory of the Modern Martyrs of Yemen.
  4. We observe the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, Apostles on Friday, 28th and Saturday, 29th June. The Peter Pence collection for Holy Father’s works of Charity will be done at all masses on Friday and Saturday.
  5. The Sri Lankan Catholic Community of the Sacred Heart Church will be celebrating their 40th Anniversary on Friday, 21st June with a Sinhala Mass in the Mother Church at 8.30 am, followed by a small reception at Our Lady of Arabia Auditorium at 10.00 am. All the Sri Lankans of the parish are invited to join in commemorating this auspicious occasion.
  6. The African Community will be celebrating the Feast of their Patron Saint Charles Lwanga and Companions on Friday, 21st June at 6.00 pm in the Mother Church. There will be a fellowship, at St. Lawrence Kids Hall, immediately after the mass. All are invited.
  7. The Malayalam Community will celebrate the Feast of St. Thomas, the Apostle, on Thursday, 4th and Friday, 5th July. In preparation for the Feast, the 9-Day Novena will commence with a flag hoisting on Monday, 24th June at 7.30 pm at the courtyard, followed by Mass at the Sacred Heart Church. A cultural programme will be held on Thursday, 4th July from 7.15 pm onwards at Our Lady of Arabia Auditorium. The Feast Mass will celebrated on Friday, 5th July at 7.00 pm in the Sacred Heart Church. For details, please refer to banner displayed in the courtyard. 
  8. The Wedding Anniversary Mass for June celebrants will be held on Saturday, 29th June at 6.30 pm. During the mass, celebrants must occupy the pews reserved. Registration along with a fee of BD.1 is required and celebrants must be present at Mass to receive the Certificate. Last date to sign up is Friday, 28th June.
  9. The Catechists of the Neo-Catechumenal Way invite all adult parishioners above 12 years of age, either married or single, who are longing to deepen their faith and their relationship with God, to attend the Catechesis being held every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 7.30 pm at the Kids Hall which is on the 3rd floor above the Parish Canteen.
  10. “AWAKENING 2024,” a Kids and Teens Retreat for parish children from Class 1 to Class 12, from 29th June to 2nd July, will be animated by the Anointing Fire Catholic Youth Ministry team from U.S.A. Registration forms have already been distributed through the Catechism classes, and are also available at the Parish Office and Religious Gift Corner. Registration fees will be BD 10/- per child. Breakfast and lunch will be provided on all 4 days. 23rd June is the last day for registration. Volunteers available to assist in the Kids and Teens Retreat on all four days are requested to submit their names at the Parish Office. 
  11. The Holy Door pilgrimage will be conducted at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Arabia every Monday immediately after the 7.00 pm Mass in English. Pilgrims entering through the Holy Door are eligible to receive plenary indulgences for themselves or the souls of the faithful departed.
  12. The Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Arabia proudly presents the commemorative coin of St. Arethas and Our Lady of Arabia, with the blessings of His Excellency Bishop Aldo Berardi. This coin has the image of St Arethas on one side and the image of Our Lady of Arabia on the other. Priced at BD10 per piece, the income generated from selling the same will be used towards the construction of our Bishop’s House. Let us keep this coin in our homes as a souvenir and a blessing. May the intercession of Our Lady of Arabia, and St. Arethas and Companions help us all.
