ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR 22ND, 23RD & 24TH MARCH 2024

  1. This week, we celebrate Palm Sunday. Blessed Palms will be distributed at all obligation masses. Please treat them with reverence and do not discard them or leave them anywhere.
  2. The Way of the Cross will be enacted by the youth of our parish on Palm Friday, 22nd March at 3.15 pm in the courtyard of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Let us accompany Jesus on His sorrowful journey to Calvary through “Via Dolorosa – Saved By The Cross” and meditate on the profound love He demonstrated for us during His most sorrowful passion. During this time, there should be no other parish activities. Please communicate and encourage your respective communities to participate in this meaningful service.
  3. The Chrism Mass, presided over by H. E. Bishop Aldo Berardi, will be celebrated on Tuesday, 26th March at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Arabia at 7.00 pm. Buses have been arranged from the Arts & Craft Centre at 6.00 pm., 6.15 pm and 6.30 pm. Due to this, the evening mass and confessions will not be held at the Sacred Heart Church.
  4. On 28th March, the Maundy Thursday service will commence at 7.30 pm at the Sacred Heart School grounds in Isa Town. We will have the Adoration at the Altar of Repose immediately after the service. Let us use this time to be with the Lord and reflect on our life as we stay back and spend some time with our Lord Jesus. 
  5. 29th March is Good Friday, a day of fast and abstinence. The Good Friday Service will begin at 5:00 pm with the Way of the Cross at the Sacred Heart School grounds in Isa Town. The collection made on Good Friday will go towards the Holy Land. 
  6. On Saturday, 30th March, the Easter Vigil service will begin at 7.30 pm at the Sacred Heart School grounds in Isa Town. Please bring your own candle to the Vigil and light it from the Paschal Candle, as this symbolizes Christ’s breaking of the darkness of sin and death to bring us all the Easter victory.
  7. 31st March is Easter Sunday. The English Masses in the Sacred Heart Church in Manama will be at 7:00 am, 8:30 am, 10:00 am, 5:30 pm and 7:00 pm. For masses in other languages, please refer to the Notice Board and the Parish website. On Easter Sunday, Holy Water will be distributed in the church courtyard after the final blessing. Kindly bring your own empty bottle, come in an orderly queue and receive it.
  8. We require a lot of flowers to decorate the Altar of Repose on Thursday, Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday services. For Maundy Thursday, donors may bring them by Thursday afternoon to the Sacristy of the Sacred Heart Church and for the Easter services by Saturday afternoon. Alternatively, cash donations, towards this purpose, may be handed over to the Parish Office.
  9. For those who have difficulty with transport to Isa Town, arrangements have been made for bus services from the Art and Craft Center Bus Stop at Al Zubara Avenue The timings are as follows:
    On Holy Thursday, Buses will leave at 6.00 pm, 6.15 pm and 6.30 pm.
    On Good Friday, Buses will leave at 3.30 pm, 3.45 pm and 4.00 pm.
    On Holy Saturday, Buses will leave at 6.00 pm, 6.15 pm and 6.30 pm
    Those coming to Sacred Heart School for the services and have space available in their personal vehicles are requested to kindly pass by the steel gate of the church to accommodate the faithful.
  10. The Holy Week and Easter Schedule of Services in Manama and Isa Town is displayed on the Parish Notice Board and also in the Banner kept in the church compound.
  11. During Holy Week, there should not be any gatherings, meetings or prayer services of any kind during parish events such as the Way of The Cross. 
  12. All parishioners are encouraged to make their Confessions while the priests are available, and not wait for the last minute. There will be no Confessions from Maundy Thursday until Easter Sunday.
  13. We require Ushers (Hospitality Ministers) for the Holy Week services here in Manama and in Isa Town. Interested parishioners are to submit their names and contact details to the Parish Office by 26th March at the latest. 
  14. Lenten Alms Envelopes have been distributed and are available at the Parish Office. The proceeds will go towards the Campaign against Hunger and Thirst. Please take one envelope per family and return it with your contribution by dropping it in the box labelled Lenten Alms which is kept at the entrance of the Church.
  15. There will be an offertory procession during the Mass at all Easter Sunday masses. Parishioners are encouraged to bring offertory items and join the procession during the mass. These offerings will be distributed to the needy in the parish through Poor of St. Anthony.
  16. While coming for the services at Isa Town and Manama, parishioners are requested to park their vehicles properly without hindering traffic on the main road and to avoid traffic congestion.
  17. The Feast of Divine Mercy will be celebrated on Sunday, 7th April at the 7.00 pm mass in the Sacred Heart Church. The Novena will commence on Good Friday at 10.15 am, St. Anthony building, above canteen, room no. 5. For details, please refer to the Church Notice Board.
  18. The CFC Singles for Christ will be conducting a Christian Life Programme for single men and women, every Friday at 1.30 pm commencing from 22nd March to 24th May. Couples for Christ invite married couples to attend their Christian Life Programme every Friday at 5.00 pm from 5th April to 7th June. CFC Servants of the Lord invites men of 40 years and above who are single fathers, widowers or married men whose wives are not in Bahrain, to attend the Christian Life Programme every Friday at 1.30 pm from 5th April to 31st May at the St. Francis Centre.

  19. The Sacrament of First Holy Communion for the children of the parish will be held on Friday, 5th April and students of Sacred Heart School on Friday, 12th April. The Sacrament of Confirmation will be administered on Friday, 19th April.
  20. There will be a Kids and Teens Retreat for parish children from Class 1 to Class 12, commencing from 29th June to 2nd July, which will be animated by the Anointing Fire Catholic Youth Ministry team from U.S.A. This retreat is compulsory for all children. Parents, please make arrangements for your vacation accordingly. Timings and other details will be announced later.
  21. The Holy Door pilgrimage will be conducted at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Arabia every Monday immediately after the 7.00 pm Mass in English. Pilgrims entering through the Holy Door are eligible to receive plenary indulgences for themselves or the souls of the faithful departed.
  22. All parishioners are requested to receive Holy Communion with reverence and devotion. Those receiving the Eucharist by hand are to place their left hand over their right with the palm facing upwards.  After the priest or minister has placed the host on the palm, the faithful should step on the side and then use the right hand to put the Eucharist in the mouth along with any other crumbs that may be on the palm. When the Minister or Host states “Body of Christ’ the appropriate response is “Amen.” Please also instruct your children to follow the same.  It is the responsibility of parents to nurture their children in a manner that promotes a respectful attitude towards faith and moral values.
